Aloha guys from Southern Ohio. Yes it's that time of the year where the white stuff starts flying again.  Area "ARES" up and running twice a week practicing drills and so on.  Keeping in mind that all over the Mainland HF, VHF & UHF Communications are hot.  Morning Net with the Mississippi Magnolia Net on 3.878.00 LSB at 12:00 hrs GMT/07:00 hrs., EST. Ham all over checks in with weather report. As far west as California, Oregon, Nevada, the New England States and of coarse the Southern States. It's a very interesting net at early mornings.  Pre-Net starts when the "Chicken" awakens, hi hi.  We've two Hams that was put to the test.  K4SWM, Sam (Jasper, Al.) had some power his main antenna had alot ice and snow and on the ground. Another was WD4OUM Terry in Kingsport, Tenn. Snowed in without power. Both hams were assigned net controls MM-Net. So the next step was to contact them via home telephone/Cell phone communications.  Health and Welfare were disgust. Alls well now thanks to the thinking hams the net still was on timebecause of communications was well planned.  Weather forcast since a week ago to now has been pretty cold, frigid and just nasty. Schools here were shut down for 4 days because of temperature's. Kids that lives on the outskirts of Town that depends on Bus services were not able to run. This past Monday I had a call from my grand-daughters saying if we would pick her up and that Schools were closing very early that day.  Tell the kids back in Hawaii that people here do not let there kids out to play out in the temps of 30 to 10 degree weather, hi hi.
Well that's all for now I hope you all are keeping warm for all of us Hams on the Mainland.
